- How should I select the best photo?
All you need is a clear, close up -if possible- photograph (although I can work from less clear and very old photos too) in good lighting and good size (should be in jpeg format and at least 100kb if it's a digital photo and 4"x6" if it's a print). Photos should be clear and sharp for better results. Remember that good quality photographs will result to a brilliant portrait.
- I really want a portrait of my three dogs, but I don't have a photo of them sitting together. Can you work from different photos and incorporate them into one picture?
Yes I can! Just email me the photos of your dogs and I will create a mock up for you to see how they work together and we'll take it from there.
- Can I choose the background or have a detail changed?
Of course you can! But please let me know as soon as possible, preferably before I start drawing the portrait. Alternative backgrounds can be drawn.
- How long will it take for my portrait to finish?
Portraits can take up to 1-2 weeks to complete depending on the following:
-Size of the drawing
-Complexity of the photos supplied
-Number of figures to be painted
-Number of alterations from the original photos
-Will I get a refund if I am not satisfied with my portrait?
My aim is to provide all my customers with a portrait that is according to their wishes and complete satisfaction. If you are not happy with the result and it's not something that can be altered, then you will be refunded.
-How will you post my finished portrait?
That depends on the size of the portrait and the deadline. I usually post all small size portraits 1st class or recorded and the larger ones - A2 size - special delivery. To avoid any damage and make sure that your portrait will arrive in great condition I will wrap it between a few extra strong cardboards. In the unlike event that it arrives damaged you will be fully refunded.
For every colour pencil portrait I use water soluble Caran D'Ache colour pencils on Daler-Rowney super white cardboard
Over the years I've worked with many different clients and of course every project is different and their requirements varied so I've conducted a mini questionaire with the most common questions I've been asked and my answers. Hopefully you'll find them useful if you are thinking of ordering a portrait, but if you have a different question please feel free to get in touch with me and I'll be more than happy to answer it.
